Moths - Gwyfynod

We have several different types of traps that we use to trap the moths. The traps are set in the school's Butterfly garden or in various habitats in Conwy. The moths are attracted to either a Mercury Vapour lamp or to an ultra-violet light and then shelter among egg boxes in the traps. The traps come on automatically at night and are checked each morning. All moths are released unharmed in the environment in which they were caught.

You can see a photographic record of the moths that we have caught by clicking Photograph link or by clicking on the green button above each month.  If we caught the same species in more than one month we may not necessarily have a photograph of the moth in both months. A record for each month can be seen on the 'Moth Watch' page.
